Pan Kaiming's testimony:
"On December 14, 1937,some Japanese soldiers broke into my house and took me away. They put me in the former Overseas Hostel for one day.At 2 o'clock next afternoon,I was roped together with some three hundred people and 4 o'clock,we were escorted to Meitangang to be machine-gunned.There seemed some sparkles appearing in my eyes and I fainted away.About 9 or 10 in the evening,I came to my consciousness and found that I was buried in corpses.I asked myself if I was still alive or became a ghost.Because of the darkness,I escaped from the death.
